Health and Wellbeing The Community Health Unit consists of trained health professionals and offers many services for the health and wellbeing of the local community and local businesses. It is the Community Health Unit's responsibility to enforce state laws relating to: food safety and quality, hairdressers, beauty parlours, tattooists, immunisation, public swimming pools and spas, tobacco controls, nuisance complaints, accommodation standards, community safety issues and development of health promotion strategies. Recently the Community Health Unit developed the Municipal Public Health Plan 2006 - 2009 and the Health Statistics and Demographics Report, which can be downloaded from this website. The Community Health Unit has a program available for Food Premises called Food Start. The CD aims to assist new businesses with appropriate food practices and can be downloaded from the website. The Community Health Unit is based at the Prahran Town Hall Offices on the corner of Chapel and Greville Streets, Prahran and can be contacted on 8290 3393 between the hours of 8.30am to 5pm, Monday to Friday. |
